just detailing in this one. -still work to do damaging the edges. I'm trying to place them intelligently instead of just random. I think it'll come out better that way. I"m thinking i want to detail the rope too but i'm not sure what thats going to end up doing.
Had to finish a small contract first, but I'm back to working on this. Here's another update of the entire scene. Did too many different things to mention, but mostly focused on skin tones and damage (on both characters). I also fixed the pose, but still may have to tweak Scarface's eyes. C&C appreciated.
The bakes are really clean and well done. regarding texturing, maybe you should look at references of this gun and try to match those to the best of your abilities. Where will it be edge wear and dirt for example? Where will the weapon be a bit damaged? And so forth. If you know that it will be easy for you to make a great…
Research into what makes fireproof suits fireproof, as well as what goes into motorcycle jackets to make them skid and damage resistant when a driver falls. This may help inform you as to how to design the suit overall, and provide purpose for each decision you make about where seams and plates end up.
@Coyo.te - I think if the helmet matched the red of the armor it would add alot to the piece. That way you could also add the damage and people would notice it. @Vayne4800 - I agree with MDK the item looks good but would work better if thinner. @Tvidotto - I like finnicks idea of a forest themed competition.
The scratches looks really off, they are way to evenly distributed and are too common on flat places, it works on some places like the arms, but for example the hip part really doesn't look very realistically damaged. Id also say that it looks weird too have it being so scratchy while there is no other form of dirt.
Had some very busy weeks, but found some time to create the silencer. Tried to play a little with a gloss map on this one. It's slightly longer that the original one (AngryGun), I think it looks a slightly cooler :) Also removed the damage on the rails, though it feels a little 'too clean' for me now... Any opinions?
yeah the ctr z thing is a bitch, when i draw on paper, im much more careful about what i do, and how i do it, one wrong line can really damage your drawing so by using paper, you will learn much more to focus on your strokes. (imo)
Hey Ruz...is this the 1st getaway or the 2nd?...as I have played and completed both games and never experienced what you are describing, maybe worth getting the DVD changed/replaced or even better still if any of your friends have the game ask if you can borrow it to see if it is the copy that you got that is damaged...
also if you want to work non destructively try using layer blending modes and layer masks. (not sure if these have a different name in gimp) you should be able to use a darker or colour burn layer blend mode to create damage/dirt and then use a layer mask to paint where you want it to appear.
