Day 03 on the tank model. Another daily update. This time the big blockout for her armor and clothes. Pretty happy with how it is already, though I don't really like the bottom part of her legs/feet. Tomorrow that will be fixed next to some more detailing. -

Another update. Plan is to make him cinematic, all the details will be in displacement map besides overall textile noise. Next stage - hands and blockout for all the chest gear. After all that is done, I'll come back to each piece and bring it to awsome detail level :) ) -

This looks cool! The blockout alone got me excited. Just a nice layout. your lighting is a miss for me. The shadows are too dark and there isnt really enough bounce. The lighting in the ref is really soft and warm, almost like an overcast. More bounce, softer shadows. -

what would be the workflow for creating and practicing making levels/environments? Do you always start with sketches/concept art? Do you sometimes just go in and blockout geometry and come up with ideas as you go? I'm curious how other's go about it. -

robertg: Thanks man, you and me also! I'm feeling like I'm becoming a lot more efficient, I doubt I'm showing much improvement in the final piece but the blockout phase is getting a lot quicker and more consistent :D Thanks for stopping by :) #008 -

You are right I just noticed that their textures are clean and that they get most of the look from normal and spec maps.So this is going to be easy job to fix.Tomorrow I will do level blockout and try to get something decent to show.Hopefully Joes critique will get me on right track. -

You could test this simply. You could remove the uvs of the blockout mesh temporarily and make a new export, import it back into Unreal, bake again and see if the errors are back. If they do so, it means that incorrect or missing uvs can lead to light bounce artifacts. -

Oh yeah, Those are just blockouts. No regard for polycount/topology. Those won't be in game models or anything. Because I don't do so well with concept art, that was my way of "concepting" the space. And imagining how it would look :) And thanks! More to come soon. -

dope update ^^ Hope you stick that one longer clump of hair on the front too, worked real nice on the blockout. And would be kinda cool to see her with a bit more makeup (could tone it down from the concept a bit but little more could work).
