Welcome to Polycount! Not a bad start To make the engines more roundly...are you referring to the hard lines that run along the length of the cylinder shape? Make sure those are soft edges.
Hello everyone! In parallel to dreadlocks, I began to create this hairstyle for gamedev =) Polycount - 7 746 Tris Soft - Ornatrix, 3dsmax, Vray HIRes --- > https://www.artstation.com/artwork/o1wnm
Nice and clean bake. As for me edges are a little to sharp, try making them more round and soft on highpoly, so they will bake better and overall look of the model will be even better.
Hmm.... Maybe gridsnapping is on by default, and you toggle it off by holding the X Key? Is Retain component spacing or soft seelction enabled in the Move settings? Are crazy meshsizes or scalings involved?
Side note, yellow ones are locked normals, green ones are not locked. You will need to unlock those normals in order to modify soft/hard edge configurations in those areas.
Your brick tiles have a really soft feeling to them. Perhaps take some inspiration from Orb's rock sculpts: http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=83186
I really hope you keep the ass-less pants :) Coming along nicely. I think the cheak bones are a little more soft in the concept. You'rs are fairly pronounced.
By "smoothed polygons", do you mean polygons that have been physically subdivided using the "Smooth" method (resulting in a polySmooth node in the History), or just polygons sharing soft edges?
Hey guys, I started to work on the textures with 3D Coat. That the first time and I just love this soft ! So here the head texture of Garrison. Cheers :) ( the ears are not finished )
Teriyaki: thanks dude! I am definately trying hard to be soft and loose :) , I enjoy the abstract nature of some things. Here is some sculpts I've done recently
