Depends on how familiar the artist is with the subject matter, level of refinement, complexity, style, etc, etc. There's way too many factors, even if someone gave you an average it'd be utterly meaningless without context. You'd be better off asking artists of similar styles how long their deadlines usually are. -

it looks abit empty. look up lab/sci fi room concept art on this page: www.conceptroot.com notice how all the rooms have loads of stuff. yours has an open space. you need like microscopes, robot checking machines etc etc good luck tho dude -

i prefer investing the bit of time for a cage because then it will be perfect ;) but i'd definitely have a batch to avoid intersecting lowpolymeshes, thats why i said put every second scale into a batch. so you have 1,3,5,7 etc in one batch and 2,4,6,8 etc in the other - enough space for raydistancestuff -

lol sorry , i like games lumines style , original, yet fun , cash gun chaos etc style . I would buy psp only for lumines and shin..thats it . But nintendo DS only seems to have marios, and warios, etc , would like to see something with more action . -

Woot, Darren for the win. A lot of this stuff Gabe knows about already (too much of the same thing, etc. etc.) so hopefully he'll make cuts here and there. Good job Gabe, hold tight and you'll land something eventually. It took me a year of active looking to find a job. -

well, yes, I have animated in unity. And used mecanim, etc. But was looking for an in-depth tut Animated UVs and why they are better than texture offsetting, like less drawcalls, etc, and more tips and tricks. I am thinking of using this technique in production and hence wanted as much pros and cons as possible. -

That makes sense, I was thinking more from a studio perspective, being able to collaborate with concept artists like that to save time and adhere to style consistency, etc etc - I can certainly see how it could be an issue with personal portfolio work, without any citation or credit given to the original artist. -

Thanks for your comments Rhoutermans :) I use XNormal for texture baking, it is a powerful software which gives me much better result than projecting normals, occlusions, cavities, etc from 3Ds Max, Zbrush, etc... and it is free! You can find a lot of useful tutorials on its own website -

I usually label a texture like the following: T_Maple_Leaf_COLOR_alpha The 'T' at the beginning is so my packages in the UDK Content Browser have all the Textures grouped together. I mean the diffuse textures, if you buy a 3d scaned character, they are also full textured, skin, eyes etc... but this textures are aligned to the HP mesh and not to the shrinked LP version of the character... So i'm not sure if the old diffuse maps with skin color etc... will fit on the new self created skrinked mesh....
