Mind doing a quick paintover in a scene of what you mean? I was thinking having a small sphere over your camera, set to additive, with a Z-Up Vector as your mask, set to be 'heaty' would be what you're looking for? But since you want it to be PP, I'm not sure if I there is an easy way.
Yep, W is the depth axis, like Z is to XY. Useful for 3D textures. Gets in the way sometimes if you're trying to Weld but your W distance is greater than your UV distance. I vaguely remember someone had a cool W trick for something or other. Sorry, maybe they'll repost...
All the normal maps look weird, have you inverted the green channel for them? Depending on the software you're using, you might have to do just that since for example in Maya, the Y axis is up and in UDK it's the Z axis instead. Other than that, it looks great. Awesome high poly work.
Np. For me I have always liked using the "clay buildup" brush but at a low Z intensity of like 10. Then I sweep back and forth over the geo to get the desired shape. Smoothing out also at a low opacity is good, and sculpting/smoothing at a lower subdivision, utilizing masks is key imo.
Just to clarify, rotating orthos is not "3dsmax workflow"! I've been using Max for years, and never felt the need to rotate the ortho views - in fact I find it quite annoying, if I accidentally rotate one then I have to hit Shift-Z straight away, whereas in Maya nothing happens. Hooray!
Hey all In Maya there is a command that will move whatever you currently have selected to the center of the grid, by typing in move -x 0 (for the X axis, otherwise you use -y or -z) What I want to know is if there is a similar command for 3ds Max (specifically 3ds max design 2k11). Help?
Yeah since it's a Z sculpt it might be easier to just do that. :) Great job on this stuff btw, I saw your flying boat on another thread and it was an item I'd thought of modeling not too long ago, it was nice seeing yours you did a pretty good job with it! :)
Yea, right now i suffer from a lack of content. I'm trying to decide what project to start on next. Cataclysm isn't helping matters >_> I want to thank everyone who posted feedback. Hopefully i can return the favor sometime d-(^_^)z
with that kind of embiance, I think you need more silhouette element to complete the lisibility of the picture, and maybe work the contrast gradient by the Z distance, like maybe this one : http://fr.flash-screen.com/free-wallpaper/uploads/200606/imgs/1151052474_1024x768_sunset-beach-wallpaper.jpg Keep it up !
Gotcha. The jump is still pretty rough atm so that will be addressed. The guy in my reference when you look at the front view, he kinda jumped to the side like I have tried to imitate. Would it be better if I just kept him travelling in the z translation?
