Solved the problem fairly quickly. Went back to the HP and selected the voided area, detached as a clone and gave it some thickness with some loops and some adjustments and baked it as two separate parts to the same LP. Result :wink:
I quickly put together a shader that uses derivative maps in UDK, but for some reason it seems that the intensity of the map increases as I get closer to it, and weakens when I'm further away. Any idea what's going on?
I was sceptical to use my tablet in max as well but I got used to it very quickly and I love it right now. Sure there are a few drawbacks but I'll take those drawbacks over aches any time.

Havent read comments, just quickly dropping in. If that is a design directly from the book, you probably shoul not use it for Dota 2. I dont know how much of your own spin is on it. Looking great, though
Regarding retopology, no one really retopologizes quickly. There's usually just methods of creating sculpts in such a way where you can minimize the number of new things you need to make for a low poly. Unless I'm wrong.
Some more progress, got started with the holograms today. Mostly just fiddling around with the texture, so I haven't really started on the shader yet. Also quickly tested placing the text on the platform wall with a decal.
Shapes are interesting!! I would definitely add more resolution on the clinder edges; to improve the silouhette. Just collapse those new faces quickly when you get in the middle to avoid impacting the polycount too much!!
Looks more like you don't have a proper lightmap in channel 1 (normally 0 is your texture, and 1 is lightmap/ao). You can try going into the model in UDK, and quickly generate another uvmap.
I got some business cards printed for the Nordic Game 2012 conference (in a local shop). This design was just quickly put together, the next cards will be final ones.. With rounded corners, double sided and all that trickery.
