Re: Crunch Time in the Games Industry
When we're doing crunch at Avalanche it's usually 3-4 days/week a 2h for a week or two. I'd say I've done about 48h of overtime this last year, so nothing basically. That being said, I'm generally doing 45-50h weeks on my own.. -

well the most basic method which works good in most cases is to model it as simple polygons. Then apply a shell modifier (3ds max) or sth similar to give it thickness and then apply some subdivision (e.g. turbosmooth in max) to make it smooth and round the edges. The are more ways to do it of course ... -

Thank you guys :) @jeremiah_bigley: maybe you're right, I think that I'll tweak a bit its color when I place it on the level and see how it works ingame. Just 2 new pictures: the shield for the Brain Boss, and the first asset for the 3th (and last) tileset, a battleship. -

And that's their choice, Isn't it. Great country we live in. Just need to get away from the abortion club cards where you get 4 and your 5th ones free type attitudes, I think education and options are good things to have but they should be discussed prior to a procedure. -

Had surgery yesterday, and all has gone well. I start at university on the 24th of Jan, so not long now before I am learning shit I probably already know. Ah well, I am just glad the surgery was a success. Thanks for everything guys. -

The point of the article was that you could have more leeway with your texture space or your vertices if it's othe other thing that's clogging up the engine. Means if you can model it at 100 polies but the bottleneck is fillrate you could perhaps go up to 200 without a drop in performance.
