Hello Eric, Thank you for responding. I can definitely post a mood board, i have been pouring over tons of reference images and ship models and I can definitely post more information about what I am trying to go for. This is going to be rendered wholly in cycles in Blender. Thank you very much for the advice and replying.
Fixed the images, thanks Eric And thanks!!! It's a spirit based stain and then a two part epoxy lacquer. I do one coat thinned with epoxy thinner to penetrate the wood as a base coat and that seals in the stain, then a second coat full strength which gives that glassy sheen and really protects the wood from the elements…
Eric is correct. What you see is the skin material and the body material. They are on the same texture sheet but skin and body are usually actually welded but with an hard edge between the two material groups. The head is actually split from the body tho, the faces almost never get touhed, so the rigging and skinning stays…
Hey Eric! Here's the reference I'm using for the piece! Also here's the updated shots (lower and higher poly). Took your advice and went way lower poly to try and get a lot more of the forms in the blade. Still feel like there's a decent amount of work there but feeling a lot better about the general look compared to the…
@Eric Chadwick Thank you so much for your comments! I should have made it clearer in the painting, the guy is a statue in construction, his legs are not there because it's currently being carved out of rocks. And absolutely agree on the sky, I'll try to figure out how to add some more interesting narrative elements. Thanks…
Hey Eric, I've taken a look at the log files and I'll be running some tests to see how much information I can gleam through various builds settings and the like. In the meantime any knowledge on the frustum culling/occlusion culling and whether in can take place in a dev build without prior building the map occlusion data…
Wow, Thank you Eric once I get this dood rigged and animated I will post my progress on here. Never heard of shoebox before looks like a flash dream :) Thank you so much for the advice should I hit any more walls I will be back to beg of more wisdom! lol Thanks again!!
Hey Eric, I wish it was as simple as installing the patch I had already installed the stability patch a few weeks ago. I have done it again just to make sure nothing was missed, but still nothing has changed. for some odd reason, I have a few white dots which appear just on the outside of the colour ID.
Hi Eric - this is a screenshot I took from 3DO. http://i.imgur.com/fEVF5uZ.jpg I've changed a majority of the texture sizes to -2 thinking it would make them a little crisper. But I can't get anything NEAR the quality of this for example. http://quixel.se/sites/default/files/images3do/3dobig1.jpg Maybe there's a setting…
@Cube: MCG looks like a nifty solution, will have to test in 2017 and see how it well it fares (hopefully I don't need to upgrade to 2018 to keep the performance form dieing). @Eric: True, will have to keep this solution in mind I think when using non MCG versions of Max. Cheers peeps, much appreciated for the solutions!
