I'm not sure about that last point, hiking *up the price the more you buy is pretty much the opposite to how it works in the real world, I dont think the fact it is digital for games would change that. Itd be a pretty big disincentive to go nuts buying stuff

Well form what i remember , just make then lod you want visible in the LOD utility. this effectively makes it 'pop' as you mentioned. at least you will be able to see where you have weird stuff happening, even if it does n't do it by camera distance

Wow, thanks for all the responses everyone, that's really informative. Its quite interesting the practice seams generally discouraged. I know Arena Net uses it heavily, and as far as I know they use TGAs not sure what it gets compressed down to, but their engine could be optimizing it all.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to play NS (my net connection was craaaaaap) and I tried, but could play like that. Really looking forward to this one, and that procedural infestation has be excited about what new gameplay elements there will be. Hope these preview movies will not be too far apart
The first problem sounds like you're hitting the touchpad while typing, you can switch it off with one of the function keys (Fn+F7 on mine). As for the XP logon screen issue, I've had it appear after installing .NET Framework. Help is found here and here.
yeah there are loads of companies in leamington.I used to work at 'Blitz Games' there. It was n't codemasters BTW, they didn't even get back to me he he yeah no interview expenses, no relocation package etc . In fact I would have had to pay them to let me work there
