Make sure to give yourself a living wage for freelance. The wiki has some solid advice for it http://wiki.polycount.com/wiki/Freelance#Freelance_Rates Look at your living situation and see if its realistic. What would the kickstarter include? -

That's weird, maybe it was before the current monthly pricing? It's pretty cheap at 30/mo, especially for freelancers. As a freelancer I would just grab a month of it when I needed it for a specific client, otherwise I would let it lapse. -

An entry level printer is a couple thousand, a 20k printer is nice but by no means a super serious pro printer. Nobody gets into business to do a thing one time.
