Looks pretty good for a first attempt! When you first start it's very difficult to sculpt a model from a hi rez base mesh. It always comes out lumpy. Something that can help is getting your figure mapped out while it is still low resolution and only increase the resolution where you need it. Reference material is pretty…
@Dan! Thanks man!, I do hope to revisit the judge as I'm not very happy with how he is right now. I'll keep the comments in mind :) @Chrisradsby Cheers, I really enjoy sculpting stylized characters. Expect to see more soonish =P @BrontoThunder Thanks!. The redesigns for Dota2 are really amazing. It gave me the inspiration…
Thanks for the crit and encouragement guys! I went back and made the head smaller and tweaked it out with more teeth showing. I also shortened up the arms. Not TOO much, but about where they looked functional. I probably could have made them shorter, but I am happy with them. So this guy is done for the sculpt. I'm moving…

Not old fashioned. It's situation dependent. I find myself starting in Zbrush or Modo entirely dependent on the nature of the object. For 'organic' characters, I tend to start in Zbrush. it looks new-age i give it that. however you'll have to move it around to reach bits of the interface - e.g. where would you place that in a zbrush sculpting session when you work all over the screen and need to reach menus and tool-trays? depending on where it's placed in relation to you you might not even be able to…

I sculpted it with long brush strokes using Clay Brush with no alpha. It was done on a separate layer, which intensity was then adjusted to something along 0.45. Then I went through the same process again on a new layer and I set its intensity to 0.25. Feel free to play around with different alphas, intensity and brush…
Once I started to work on high poly models that needed sculpted details I went with Mudbox because of the appeal of the UI and the promise that was Mudbox 2.0 back when it was owned by Skymatter. I regret it very much as Mudbox got bought out by Autodesk, now it's in the almost meaningless update for lot's of cash or…
