Thanks everyone. People have often told me the only thing missing from my images( sketches or whatever) is my confidence in them. I usually dismiss those comments because I have next to no faith in my ability's. Slowly this is starting to change, but at least it is changing :) . @ Mike Yevin: Yeah it is the dynamic…
Thanks everyone for the comments! e-freak and Bal - I took this screenshot just for you ^.^ Shader complexity reads just fine. That material is only 73 instructions right now, However, when i add a diffuse map to it, it will go up to around 76-80, but I can live with that. You have to start worrying about instruction count…
I wonder why that author of the article doesnt whine about restaurants charging him money for food or why workers in the fast food industry strike over minimum wage ... I mean he is used to hunting for food so compared to that chefs/cooks have the privilege of having abundant ingredients and electric ovens and all the…
Very good model and textures. :) Just two ideas for improving it further - First thing is the wear seems too blurred and too bright (at least the most visible one). I think it would look much better if you sharpen it a bit and make it a lot less visible in the diffuse. What I usually do, when painting metal, is blurring…
1) The render engine works in a linear color space, real lights works with an inverse square falloff, but that's another thing. We are talking about color representation. 2) It's sRGB, it's used to "linearize" the color space by neutralizing the curve introduced by the monitor. 3) Because it's not used to render any color…
Looking good, i like your colours :) . If you still are looking for some crit, (or just some advice for future projects) I'd say the placement of the 'features' of the building is off in relation to the brickwork. The height/width of window frames/doors is usually dictated by human proportions (ie a modern doorframe is…
@skodone: Most of the textures are done in 4k, but later on get downsized in engine if there is need (and there usually is need for that). :) @Nuclear Angel: Thanks! Each asset is different and there is usually various ways of going about making it. Creature works were mostly done in Zbrush. The followers however are done…
Swizzle's pretty much dead on. Although, I think enviro stuff is easier to break into for different reasons: 1: It's not as glamorous, so there's usually less competition... 2: Environments require a lot more non-aesthetic decisions to be made. It's certainly not any easier overall than making a character (though, I think…
Hi :) Great work so far ! Can't wait to see it finished ! The overall looks really good and I 'm agreed with the feedbacks you already received ! Since I'm not a big expert in foliage, I let that for other people to critic ( looks good to me !) but I did some paint over on some of your textures. I think, especially for the…
The cage determines ray cast distance so there shouldn't be any issues of portions of your model interfering with other areas unless your cage is clipping into itself, so adding a plane is not necessary. Personally, I would recommend making your cage inside Maya. xNormal works fine and all but in my opinion it's just…
