This looks really, great work. Only thing would be the tiled brick texture / Material / Substance used at the interior shot. It looks a bit too clean and symmetrial and modern than one would expect in a 14XX AD Castle.
Great work jonas! The only thing that bothers me is that little bridge in the foreground. Compared to the other models, it strikes me as a bit "meh". You might want to displace the individual bricks and perhaps create a nice HP for the textures.
hey guys, I would like to know how a megascan texture like the bricks can be used in UE4 correcrly with the high map, basically i would like to make the texture look in UE4 like in the ddo preview...
That was actually the very first thing I tried since it was the method used in Pixo's tiled brick tutorial, but I figured I should try to find out why it was spitting out blank normal maps all of a sudden.
I tried using the terrain.layer and all I get is a black texture, while still using illum I tried with very high spec, set the height to 0 and what I got was an overlay of my displacement on the bricks.
Little update on the shrine room: And I also tweaked the glow a bit more, now I'm quite happy with the result :D I also created a tiling brick texture, which will be used to make the walls less repetitive:
I was able to fix it with your advice but since the tile were using gradient to make them look uneven now it make them look smooth instead of sharp like they were before adjusting the brick with a level node.
Thanks for your helpful critique! I'll try and push this further and tidy up the poly count a bit :) Been feeling like a brick wall with my work so getting involved here is just the push I need!
I also would remove that brick wall. It looks to much like that tutorial from PHILIPK.NET but bad. Having tutorial stuff on your portfolio is a definitely a nono Just take one piece and make it perfect. hope that helps
@Chimp Thanks! That´s really encouraging to hear you mentioning breath of the wild and Zelda in general as it is one of the main inspirations, hoping to reach the level of atmosphere they pour ot of every pixel. Another one: Broken version of the bricks.
