muy bien AO influence on the texture could be a lot stronger imo, it feels very lacking and creates a CG feel. the cables on the side for example seem to just be floating there.
I meant you should use the colours you used for your set on Storm on the background. eg. Red sky with yellow clouds and the floating islands with a tint of blue.
x = vert.x / 1.0 - vertz; are you sure that vertz is a existing variable?, also make sure that you work with floats as soon as you try to divide or multiply stuff.
I guess any of the floating point options would work, and then convert them as needed, photoshop, gimp, any image editing suite will do the job for that part really.
Few more updates on things. Some of the details like the large indents I am using floating geo for, find it a lot quicker than modelling it into the surface itself.
