Idea for a bearded axe for the Mason's Knight - so far here is a quick ref sheet I pulled together for texture and my blockout next to the reference file. Still a lot of tweaking left to do but I'm exited to keep developing it.
you're right that separate parts should generally be separate on the HP. i wonder though - this is day one, are you just starting right in on the HP? have you done a blockout to define all the shapes and ensure the result will be accurate and proportional?
Time to make an environment, making a small apartment. Blockout done and wall trims are baked; time to do the door frames, windows and basic lighting. All textures are W.I.P, just bashed them in photoshop & NDo quickly, bla bla
Hmm maybe try to get the FOV right in UDK as well. The difference with the perspective is changing the overall composition here, it's a bit more stretched in UDK. But really nice blockout, can't wait til you get some textures slapped on :)
This is the best approach. If the client or your AD knows exactly what they want and gives you a fully rendered concept drawing I often skip the blockout and just start in on the highpoly working from large forms down to small forms.
That made no sense to me. fixed his glove yesterday. I will work on the second engie [will go faster, it's a simpler design] and hopefully post up. If I'm lucky I'll get a blockout of the heavy done, he's pretty complicated to draw.
Getting closer to finishing up the Cthulhu statue. Also started a blockout of my scene in UE4, very simple right now but will have some updates soon. The big sphere is where the statue will go. As always feedback very welcome.
Yeah I blockout a lot at work so for personal projects I prefer not to do it, just because it is irritating to me. But I understand what you mean its just for personal projects I like to be much more relaxed.
Here are the flags and pictures blockout, usually I set these things on my mind, but it helps putting in there, specially to compose things together while texturing: I'm also missing something on the ground. But I'm unsure what to do there... any thoughts?
Hey guys. Here is an update on our blockout. Most of this work was by John. I came in after and did a quick pass of camera composition/framing and some basic lighting. We're both diving into the high-res stuff now. :D
