4k is for all of the pages, each page being 512px wide and about 720px tall. Testing in game with a 2k texture made the text a bit hard to read but was about 1/5th the memory useage per texture, a 4k sheet with 8 pages per row is what is seen above. A seperate texture will be used for the covers/spines of all the books… -

Problem is you cannot bake an anistropic map as far I know properly, which is what gives the bending sheen of hair. Plus, Alpha can get pretty expensive on a bigger texture, so a 512 with an Alpha, with hair all pointing in one direction for Anistropy is all you need for decent looking hair. -

Most game engines operate on the metric system with 1cm being 1unit. Figure out how many pixels you need per cm. Depending on the style and hardware resource requirements of your game you might have to go 1px per 1cm or even 1meter. Well, I assume those bricks are fairly small. What I mean is that you can actually make a single texture set (256 or 512 depending on what you are making it for) that is a tiling brick texture, and then place different UVs for each brick. You will have varying bricks and use less texture space, plus have higher texture… -

uuh what ? No this is not true but also not logical. How can you generalize the texture usage without knowing the size of the texture sheet relative to the world or viewing distance? You can put a 4k texture on a space ship that is as large as a galaxy or on a coin. And depending on how its used, they demand other sizes.…
