Lots of advanced features like stretchy spine, IK/FK switch and matching, mel UIs, deformation controls. I intend to specialize in rigging and animation myself so I find it quite impressive.

The problem is the underlying base topology. Your brush is flattening correctlt where the edge flow goes in the same direction, but makes irregular shapes wherever the edge flow isn't oriented along the intended shape.
if you intend to keep the normals object space, sure, if you want to make tangentspace maps out of them, which are pretty much the standard on every production out there, you will need uv splits.
This episode seemed like it was necessary to foreshadow future events. It might have come off as a spin-off, but ultimately it was a needed plot-point if they do intend to go in the direction I think they're goin...

Looks good but I think your normal makes it look soft. Perhaps hardening/ flattening some faces. Also did you intend on making the ploys visible with your texture along the edge?
Well that's annoying cus the script intended to work with a custom grid :( It's not just about activating the grid helper, even when the non-active grid helper is on the scene, it's still printed only above 1000...

This is really looking cool. (no pun intended). I am a big fan of bottom middle or bottom right. I like knowing right off the bat that it's a husky type dog. Very nice stuff.
