I don't think there's an addon that does that mate. You can try this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luFz5gzvM9s or use HardOps for a mix of boolean and floating geometry approach. edit: or DecalMachine.
Wow, nice improvement in this thread. Paintings are coming along nicely, I like the sort of...hmm...whimsical? feel to them. Very relaxing. Little floating dude in that last post is sweet.
Pillar complete, screws will be done floating or alpha. I want to go on forever but the idea of baking / making a low poly is worrying me so i'm cutting some detail short.
Some MOAR! A quick explanation on how to build custom floating interfaces. http://vimeo.com/15997907 And a demo of the ViewSlicer script + remesh in ZBrush http://vimeo.com/16004862 Workflow streamlining ftw!
Hello! I'm joining a bit late on this one, and only had this weekend to work on it since I'm pretty busy with work. I spent most of saturday modeling and uv-ing, and most of today was high poly and texturing. I used some techniques I learned from my last job, adding 'floater' geometry over the mesh, to avoid having to do…
What a nice stuff. Can't wait to see final version. "Floaters", you mean floating geometry, right? By the way, could you show a wires for those assets? :)
naima: Ah yes, famously Rodin would float his arms in the air in the same position for hours on end without touching anything, whilst hunched over a desk.
Created a floating city kind of thing using nothing but a simple rounded rectangle shaped repeated at various sizes. Ended with a slightly extruded version to give it some depth.
This is fantastic! Love the floating gems and the overall shape. I believe the colours could be better, I'd suggest you to try bolder shades and higher contrast, especially the reds. :)
