Yea I think they changed the default light setup from 1 to 2 and Gama/LUT to on in 2012. If you get it set how you want in a default scene and save that scene as maxstart.max to your 3dsmax/scenes folder it will load each time you start max.
Nuke your prefs to kingdom come! :) You might consider doing this, just make sure you backup any scripts, shelves, etc. you want to keep. You could just rename the existing prefs folder and start Maya. Then copy from the old one.
Wow thanks man ! this is going straight to my ref folder. I'm still working on that elf-girl for now, going kinda slow with retopo (and during my break). If i Ain't lazy, i'll scan and post some of the anatomy studies I made, for training purposes !
HD can be rectangular as well and usually is unless you have a true HD camera. Anyway, easiest fix I say would be to re export the images out as square pixels in the correct aspect ratio. It's easy if she sets up an action and does a batch on a folder.
I think I'll wait till I see an example of them abusing this before dropping (hehe) them. Because it does seem logical that they would need your consent to publicly share your files (as you do when you put stuff in the public folder)
I don't see how it could happen unless you've overwritten your macroscript at some point. When you evaluate a macroscript, it gets copied in some Max folder and is executed from there. Maybe you've evaluated an old version of your script and didn't reevaluate after changing it.
Ask if they have documentation so you can read it and re-read it. It might curb having to ask the same question again if you forget something. Get the naming and folder structure right. Take notes on it if you have too. It's my biggest pet peeve with newbies.
Why does your object have 10 materials in the first place? Typically the model I load into substance is the same model from my unity assets folder. Also, don't forget that you can load the substances directly into unity and skip exporting all together.
They are normal stamps for hard surface work and skin grain high quality scans that you can use for any project. It's a little messy at the moment because everything is in the same folder but the next major update will bring a new shelf and make all this much easier to sort through.
This was originally one of my first choices for this contest, but you beat me to it. I even had that same reference picture in my reference folder :p Your execution of the pattern is spot on and looks great so far. Good luck and I can't wait to see more!
