I've seen various interviews/videos on pixar. In one video, a manager talked about how their problem wasn't making people stay late, but was actually getting them to go home and have a life. I'd also heard that they send them home at the 8 or 9 hour mark on most days. That was years ago though...
Been mainly working on tile stuff this week. I have a floor one that splits into 9 and a wall one that splits into 6. That one i was experimenting with glowy bits and transparencies. It looks like poo in udk, I don't know how to handle those weird shadows and make it look like one big wall.

idk, the tec-9 plastic looks way hard-edged to me, as well as the reciever tube being razor sharp, and it's throwing the whole piece off. One of those cases where material definition becomes a part of the modeling process. I don't think we need machining blueprints and CNC models to eliminate that kind of problem
Reviews of Q4 are quite ignorant, and they were expecting an Unreal game with alternate fire and a Q3A sequel with a crapload of mp maps. They obviously haven't played a Quake game during their releases. 9 dm maps is not enough, WTF?! Doom3/Q1 had 6 and nobody complained about that, and q2 had NONE! (on initial release…
