Moved to 2D/3D Discussion forum. http://www.cgchat.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20424&perpage=15&pagenumber=1 You can change what type of normal map it is (Tangent-space, world space, etc.) in the Options menu of the Projection sub-section of Max7's Render to Texture menu.
http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D8DV0FEO0&show_article=1 This stems way back to Pope John Paul II's statement that 'evolution seems like it might make a whole lot of sense', some 15 years ago. Interesting that the catholics aren't the ones who are behind the times this time, as far as religions go
Did a bit of trawling on Artstation for official character art. Not seeing any wireframes for reference, but if you look closely you can get a sense of level of detail. If I had to guess, I'd say around 15 to 20k triangles for LOD0, much less for the more distant LODs. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/4XRDNq…
The new iray render engine seems pretty cool! :) It's nice they updated the UV tool, but the new tools are the same as XrayUnwrap (http://www.raylightgames.com/2010/05/sneakpeek-xrayunwrap-15-rc1/) and the Chugnut UV tool. I was hoping they improve the caddy panel, it's pretty annoying when I do my modeling stuff! :(
Screenshot? What does the wireframe look like? Have you tried using a standard unwrapping workflow? For example, look about 1/3 down this page for "Example: To use Peel Mode" http://docs.autodesk.com/3DSMAX/15/ENU/3ds-Max-Help/files/GUID-EA10E59F-DE7F-497E-B399-6CF213A02C8D.htm
I wanted to throw in a quick sculpt before I 3d coat the Satry guy. This started out as a 15 minute speed sculpt but I refined it a bit I did a paint over on the screen shot. I wish I could sculpt as fast as I painted in Photoshop arg. Need to get betterrrrrrrrrr
Cris is a good guy and he's been at this for a good 15 years so really knows his stuff. I did some blender tuts for his channel last year. He's just started some intro to UE4 tuts on youtube too. [ame] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGk6w35S-es[/ame]
I'm glad you got this working. Another way to do, for people that search in the future, is to use Animation Layers. They basically do what I mentioned above, but it's all behind the scenes. :) http://docs.autodesk.com/3DSMAX/15/ENU/3ds-Max-Help/files/GUID-4C8B42F3-5EF1-458B-B806-E1234CEA87B6.htm
Alright so I'm a few days late but hoping to have the low resolution done by tonight. I'm retopoing so that the SSAO and shadows look bootiful in Marmoset, he'll probably be a little high but I want it to stand up really well compared to the high resolution. Aiming for around 15-22k tris for now.
