If you learn the fundamentals of painting, you basically can paint anything. It's sort of like the difference between memorizing what two numbers add up to versus actually learning how to add two numbers together. If you understand how to paint light, it's fundamentally the same if you're painting a realistic brick texture…
Well that wasn't quite that with Durga. I did a pass over all the textures as they felt a bit flat. A lot of dodge/burn mostly. Redid the blouse entirely. Also started getting a bit more serious about the lighting as I wanted to go ahead and put this on artstation. Tomorrow I'll start the chakram, then we'll have some…
The tail needs to be angles downard to avoid blade collisions and/or main rotor assembly needs to be pushed upwards a bit. I just noticed that you don't have a tail rotor...And that tail doesn't look it could function as a NOTAR either. It's obviously not a coaxial design, so yeah...no way this design would ever fly…
The color scheme overall feels a bit too desaturated and toned down (with the exception of the lamps that is) in my opinion. I don't think the green lights work well with the rest of the color scheme at all to be honest. I think it'd look good with some copper/brass parts as that is a pretty integral part to the more…
You can subdivide in zbrush without it changing the shape. Turn off smooth and it'll add extra verts but the shape will be the same. An alternative is to just lengthen the sections that are getting cut off. The highpoly doesn't have to have sensible geometry so long as the normals and other maps bake well. For your current…
imo that's a good idea, as you will only be a better game artist with strong traditional skills! My two cents about school - I go to a private art college and I actually think I learned tons in the first two years. But maybe that's just cuz I knew absolutely nothing about game art when I first got in ("What's a wacom…
I worked for a year and a half as a graphic designer too! It got stale, but we did a little 3D on the side sometimes, so as work experience it was useful. In the end I quit in order to build my portfolio (I thought I wasn't motivated enough to work on it after the job) after I saved for a bit and kept expenses to a…
I take it you sent this to EVGA only? I'm not sure the problem is with the card or the drivers EVGA has on thier site which looks like a mirror for the latest 8194 drivers from nvidia. In case they do change the drivers somehow try installing the drivers from Nvidia's site. I doubt anything will change since even the…
I would not rank this film with the first one. The first Pirates movie was an unexpected surprise with really solid acting and writing. The chemistry in the first film, the constant back-and-forth between the different characters, was near flawless. The pacing in the first film was also far better to the two sequels. That…
Biggest flaw i see is that your normal map is too cheap for the effect you created. You have a lot of depth and cracks in your diffuse but it doesnt show in your normals at all. Its hard to get this with hand painted textured because of the lack of real geo, so what I would suggest trying to do is using something like…
