Just finished it last night. Took me a while to get used to the technological advances. I was feeling a little iffy about it all, but the storyline totally made up for it. I'm just not a city person. :P I don't think it was rushed at all. I find they wrapped things up perfectly. -

I feel like I get wrapped up in learning how to do things better, or research into new techniques, instead of finishing a damn project. It's like I get inspired, start on something, start reading how to do it better, then get stuck in this optimization loop that leads to nowhere fast. -

you actually dont have to use bones for this. if you've got 1 modular piece for a tree, there is a spline actor within UDK that will act the same way. Check out the trees that are wrapped around the architecture in the jungle temple level that comes with UDK, and you'll see exactly what im talking about. -

In 3D-Coat these are called Strips. A great feature is that you can lay down an editable 3D spline that snaps to the surface of your model and then apply the strip along it. It's perfect for things like seams and piping that wrap around a character model. If you use a closed spline it will be seamless all the way around. -

To transfer skin weights from one mesh to another, apply skin wrap to the newer mesh, target the old mesh, tweak the settings and convert to skin. The align one skeleton to another was what I was talking about in my first post. IK/FK snapping is really common in most rigs. -

I just wrapped up looking into this myself, and while all of us are in different places and have different goals, I have to say I honestly did not find a single MFA program that focused on games/3d art to be worth the time or money. If it's an option I would look towards Europe. -

Wish there was more info on this on the web or anywhere for that matter. Seems like Activision just forgot about it. Which is retarded. It is awesome. You guys at Raven did a fantastic job wrapping it up. Guys seriously give this game a chance. I haven't had this much fun playing an fps in a long time. -

and you dont like bridge or the shift+move edge method - because thats how I quickly wrap up meshes. There should be even some close caps or close hole functionality similar to the silo`s fill hole functionality which can speed up face creation as well.
