Regarding domain name. Domain name doesn't affect your blogspot or page layout. It's just what people type in the URL to see your site. It just adds a bit more professionalism to your site. Like or Instead of, I don't know, maybe Just an extreme exaggerated example, btw :P or something xD
Definitely a nice growing collection. Your site isn't kidding about that performance stuff :P That is one spendy shaped bloom. Like the lighting model as well. Ill poke around more of them tonight for sure. Some of your more interesting stuff is on your main site though, like that fire shader :p
Hah - I don't know the history of any of the guys behind boinboing but it certainly informs me of stories that other sites don't... and it was one of the only news sitest that I know that hadn't been posted yet! Any site which makes me aware of cool goat/man/mutant hybrids such as these ... must be good in my book!
I looked on your site and saw a lot of normal maps that looked like they were baked from an image, rather than a highpoly mesh. (No samples of the meshes on your site also had me thinking that.) Could we see some of the highpoly meshes? EDIT: Check your IM's as well, top right of Polycount
I've been using addaction for about 5 or 6 years with no issues, good bandwidth, good storage, good customer support. About a year ago they doubled bandwidth, storage space and subdomains at no extra cost- I can now host 10 other sites with real domains on my site if I so choose.
[ QUOTE ] lol, I just want to tell it to browse all of conceptart.org [/ QUOTE ] site: conceptart.org although it only shows images on the site. . Like others said, it needs more controls. I'd like to be able to open the image in a tab back in firefox while I continue searching. But it's still pretty hot for finding…
Very Cool! I like the site layout, visually pleasing and easy to get around. Excellent work on there too... As far as the classy skater punk, I really like him as is. If you really feel like redoing him, I think it be very cool and fun to show a comparison shot on your site. good things
I second bandcamp.com, really nice site with tons of artists on there. You should be able to find at least a few things you like in .flac. Have you checked on any of the audiophile sites to see where they get them? I can guarantee they don't settle for mp3s. =P
No offense, but there looks like a big gap between what Carmack does, and what I'm seeing here (prototype art or not). So is the custom browser needed in order to view these 3d sites? That would be a major major turn-off for me (and probably anyone who wants their site to be in 3d).
IMO that site is pretty busy/over-designed too. Actually if you go to the actual portfolio section of his site, its very clean and to the point: http://andreewallin.com/portfolio But the main page with the fading images and all that... I would skip any of that stuff. Get right to the work!
