Hi... newbie here: I sculped this little guy a few months ago, but had to postpone the project. Now I'm picking up where I left, but I'm having quite a trouble baking the normal maps again. Before I shelved the project, I baked the normal map for the facial features and everything went really smooth from Mudbox to Maya. No…
So my computer likes to randomly shut off... and it's not a daily occurrence, I'd say bi weekly at best :/ but today it did it twice in a row first time it happened was back in December and it wouldn't let me turn it back on right away. I took the side panel off let it cool down and eventually got it to turn on and I…
Okay so first post here, yay \o/ Been following this forum more or less for a while now and decided to hop in for some critiques ! So me and my friend are working on a personal learning project with Unity (coding, modeling, texturing and so on and so on, hopefully we'll get something decent done some day :P) So here are…
Actually, just got answered: from the author: Hi! There's a need to pack textures as tightly as possible in order to have as few texture fetches in shaders and less (texture) memory. There is a trad-eoff with quality however, some textures need high quality, and others don't. Normal maps typically need high quality as…
Another thing that I'm curious to know from others who struggle with this is whether it's solely related to personally driven projects? For example, I have all of the issues described in this thread when I'm working on personal projects. I just cannot seem to muster the motivation to finish anything, and my excitement for…
Sorry for the non-informative first post. Thank you so much for all your comments. I will definitely tone down the AO :) . Elith2 I'll look into that. The two have two different textures. I made the chair texture early in the process and then did another for the barrels so will try to redo the older texture. Dan! Great…
Thanks Chrisradby! I took the time to make eye-lashes and lower down the eyebrows a bit, and remade completely all maps. Still WIP (fingers and some stuff are still white) and I'm having difficulties with the alphas... I'll try to fix that in UDK later. I also tried to draw scratches following the hard edges and the cracks…
the face is not looking hawt... and it's not a problem that the face isn't looking hawt as much as it is a problem that people post misguiding advice/statements... if it's David - -The nose is too wide from the front and not coming off of his face enough -the eyes are too small and too far apart -the mouth is shaped wrong…
Yeah man! I was going to say your styrofoam is awesome as well! I want to sculpt something like that. Recreate an entire object in various sized spheres, Dynamesh it, then CLIP ALL THE POLIES. :D Anyway. Dual purpose post here: One, to help people with carbon fiber (Assuming the result I got doesn't suck). The other…
Some tips: The emissive map is colored but for no reason. You have the exact same colored lights in your albedo too, so the emissive can be gray scale. Or you could even select those pixels with an IF because their color are really different (a lot brighter) from the rest of the car so they are easy to find. It would be…
