Llucs suggestion of baking from one UV set to another it's the best option. This can be done in designer as well. simply make target object UVs match your desired atlas layout and bake to them from the original object.
Hi there! Really easy advice would be to maybe target a bit more what you wanna showcase; you got a lot of pretty nice characters and i feel like their overall quality is shadowed by the environments you show.
if you comfortable with sharing your file it will be helpful in exploring the issue. otherwise answering some questions could help. What is the intended behavior ? what does the target look like? is the goal for eyes to rotate or are they supposed to change shape?
Design question: Does this gun have a camera / sensor system to track and identify targets? Looks like it could use one to really bring this feeling more down-to-earth. Also, where is the ammunition feeding into this sentry turret?
I think what Farfarer means is that you should make a variable that contains your target. Then you can just assign it once and then it doesn't have to look up what the transform is every frame.myTarget = this.transform or something like that.
9thKnight: thanks! Bull's mouth is off so far. And I have to cut down polycount a lot to meet the target. I think I'll have to simplify crannequin's mechanism. And there will be A LOT of ornaments. 70% of work here is texturing.
Did the arms, Going to do hands/wrists next Are the proportions and forms correct so far? Having never drawn or sculpted humans (or anything basically) I'd love to get a second pair of eyes to check if I'm on target.
Here is my first WIP
You should just use morphing. Store Morph target. Smooth your model enought - you'll get an "ugly smooth" )) - but it's ok. Now using morph slider get a bit of original details back. Hope it will help :)
these guys have some videos that might help. (this specific video may not apply since its mostly targeted toward gaming but check their other build your own pc videos). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGrvRItaCDY
