I just tried the normal map using Xoliul Shader in 3D Studio Max 2009 and the weird line is gone. I dont understand the problem. They say Marmoset is the best tool available for previewing game assets. And I personally like Toolbag for its unmatched post effects and user friendly interface... Anyway, here's a screen cap. -

The shape the edge loop creates does not have to be round. It just creates a "loop" around the the object, and where it intersects with other edges it creates new geometry needed to add detail. The tutorials I used when learning Maya are long gone, but for the most part the help docs are pretty solid for learning the interface. Also check out "the area" autodesks official community site, they have a lot of tutorials and self help stuff. Gnoman also has some beginner Maya DVD's from what I remember. Good luck! -

That's awesome. It's like the interfaces in Minority Report (and other sci-fi movies), but real! It would be very interesting to use in Mudbox or Painter (or ZBrush and Photoshop, if you like). Then what needs to happen is make it recognise the user's fingerprints, so different actions can be assigned to different fingers… -

I would agree that the drivers can be hit and miss. The ones that ship with the tablet are hopelessly outdated. I don't use Wacom and Huion on the same machine, so can't vouch for whether the drivers clash or not. I bought my Huion as a backup and to test its efficacy. I'm using a Dell XPS M1730 aswell, but with the 8800M GTX SLI cards. GPUs use MXM interface and should be pretty easy to upgrade (probably insanely expensive thou :( ). Demos always run pretty bad when I try them. Far worse than their retail versions, anyways. The UI can be changed a little bit though. Press alt+arrow up. Also, the retail game will be 100% customizeable through LUA scripting, I believe. So you can make whatever interface you want -
