EQ: well, what could vailias do without distorting it :P Irritant: Welcome to UT2k4, where body and head maps are both 1024x1024 as a standard Sett: Perhaps for tattoos and damage? Still doing my skin here
I commented on this in discord. But the lamp needs more wear that changes the height info of the texture. You have a lot of grime, which modifies the roughness and maybe the color a bit. But there's none of the actual wear that you'd see on something that's in an environment with people in it. Deep bits of dirt or oil in…
Working on something new. My take on a modern-day battle priest character, eg: Jerome Jeffries, Gabriel Stokes. Crits always welcome, here's my latest sculpt, still a work in progress. Need to work on breaking up the symmetry and maybe add damage in the sculpt.
CGSociety has a great 2 page article discussing Splash Damage's latest effort, Brink. They talk a lot about their art and design choices they made when working on the game as told through concept art samples. Lots of pretty pictures and some great thoughts to absorb.
what I mean is that the damage that you have on the height map does not feel like stamped steel. Take a look at the picture below, you see some indents here and there and scratches but not chunks of metal that are missing like on your current texture,
Some progress. I have spend few days playing with lighting. After that, I have started on the ground material in Designer I have created 2 variants "new" and damaged. In UE I did a quick test with vertex paint
on the right wall - it's an exposed beam with a candle holder/stand + candle (like the ones from the left side). the green patch(maybe paint?), again on right wall, is probably to show the wall paper stopping, and the wall itself being damaged and dirty.
Ahh nice use of the RGB channels there sir. Did some stuff like this with damaged / ageable stuff in the past instead of having a ton of different textures and usually in the end it's all the same anyways. Good stuff. Can't wait to see more. :)
Yeah the scratches and damage doesn't really make sense right now. The nobs and anywhere extruded would have some grime and scratches, and other signs of being used around them. Parts look way to clean for having those scratches.
Thank you! :D Ye I thougth so as well, I tried to add more damage to the body in the diffuse map as you can see, but it wouldn't show up in my render. I will try to experiment some more on it later :)
