Hey guys, Im currently working on this Matte/2D concept. About 50% in I think, started with a whitebox 3D for lighting and perspective to save time. Ill update again soon but any feedback is welcome.
You should always set the opacity of normal map as %50 because Modo's viewport doubles up the normal strench so that weird bumpiness occurs.This might solve your problem if there is no baking related issues.

A basic material, with a 3-point light set-up on a 50% grey background. You could probably even keep the set-up you have now and just change the background to mid-tone grey.
