This is a great discussion and one I am involved with all the time. Thanks Stuart for starting this thread. Quick background on me so you know where I have been and my experience: 17 years working in games and Discovery Channel documentary work. 10 years as 3D instructor- trained over 100 students worldwide in Denmark,…
That's very true. My freelance client base only got solid after 3 years or so of constant searching. Then I started to get more repeat work requests. I stopped doing freelance though as I wanted more stability and paid benefits. Anyhow to your request, you could look for world builder roles. I did that for Tencent a while…
(i'm in the same position as you, career wise, so consider this an unqualified critique) Hey Victor! The (chronologically) first five models in your portfolio look really good, very aesthetically pleasing and I could see them appearing in a videogame. The topology is nice on those five as well. They do look low-poly and…
Just a quicky, I don't do a lot of illustrative type work, still not sure if that's good or bad :x I feel like I need a less intrusive signature heh SORRY for the super delayed replies guys, like I said I try not to post to this unless I have something new to show. Don't mean to seem like I'm ignoring anybody, I greatly…
After months of not beeing able to do any creative work for various reasons i realy want to get back into the habit of doing frequent, hopefully daily creative work and in the hope of posting some of it to motivate me I will also start this digital sketchbook here. I have an education as a traditional wood/stone sculptor…
Funny, not a long time user, but to me Blender UX is far better than max. No install, starts in 3 seconds. UI is clean and intuitive. Lots of nifty modeling tricks. The sculpting mode is great. Almost at mudbox level already. EEVEE is great. Unwrapper is garbage, but so is max unwrapper. Some legacy stuff still feels…
Find my answer after a few hours reading and here how to do it, you first need to install Inkscape open source vector program and you need this little free application: https://github.com/Microsoft/OpenType-SVG-Font-Editor that will simplify the process and let you drag and drop your greyscale image in the proper font…
Looks like you are sculpting depressions, especially in the face. That gives a hungry look that isnt too attractive. You can shave forms off but check you are not getting that sunken look. The hands and feet are looking a little off in size, structure and position and the masses like the arms and legs (already mentioned)…
I assume that you are being sarcastic and mocking the fact that i stated that this is my first sculpt, insinuating that i am here to show off and receive praise. The reason i stated it was my first attempt was due to the fact that i thought i would receive a lot of negative comments and wanted people to understand that im…
I forgot to check back here! Sorry about that. That's true Tim, I tried but it still didn't come out as I had hoped. I think I'll be doing some head sculpts over the break... Thanks! But here's what I was doing in spare time. I wasn't slacking, I swear! And I tried some tiling textures with some lights...…
