Lorelai's Spellbook: "Incantations, Elixirs, and Malevolent Magicka of the Misguided" Hidden on the dustiest bookshelf of a conjurer's swamplands dwelling, secluded completely in the shadows other than when the beams of the full moon hit the spine at the perfect angle... Base spellbook upon which I will paint some VFX…
Mike - I should've said more 200-300, 400 was a bit of an exaggeration XD it was more a few days of work than say a permanent freelance gig, but had a friend that was paid a pretty high rate similar to that working in Vfx, one of the film houses in Soho I believe.
You cut to the bone with you radical truths Dan :P TBH, i was a little disappointed with the final film and though there were many awesome shots and some nice VFX, there was also some places that could have been done better (The hair on the old man in the tent for example.)
Thanks. Sorry for the delayed response, and I was starting to arrive at the same conclusion prior to reading your post. Organizing and tagging all those libraries seems like it would be a nightmare. For that reason I've started to get into designing procedurally generated textures, right now I'm trying to learn substance…
Hey guys, my name's Charchit, I am 20 years old and from India. I am currently pursuing my graduation in 3D Animation and VFX. I have just started with 3d sculpting and wanted to share my work and progress with the community. This my 2nd attempt at sculpting something. I am trying to learn the human anatomy to begin with.…
Hi all, Looking for suggestions on how to get dynamic color information from video playback or update light color dynamically during video playback. Cinema effect for mobile like gearvr cinema. Experience with shader forge but certainly not a shader vfx programmer. I did find just this link…
Not directly related to your question, but I think worth mentioning. Unless you're in a field that explicitly requires video to properly showcase your work (animation, rigging, VFX...), a showreel is probably doing you more harm than good. Stick to well-composed still images for your portfolio.
Yes, it's been around for a while now, but interestingly they've released a version for Blender 2.80(and no other DCC) It has its place in film/vfx as it's a Nuke plugin, but to me it just looks like another FaceGen type tool and not suitable for character work in this age of 3D scans and Wrap3 tech.
This industry needs an union pretty bad. My tip would be if you are a freelancer try also to get jobs which are closely related, but not part of the gaming industry. There is a lot of demand for 3D and real-time 3D in other industries, which do pay good but they are not remotely as glamours as VFX or Gaming.
Also I forgot to mention I am using particle effects bought from Unreal Engine marketplace. Specifically I'm using VFX weather pack by Thomas Harle. I don't have much experience with particles but I did make the sparks and puffs of smoke in my scene.
