Thats great to hear since you talked about trying to get refund. Like WarrenM said. You can't force Modo to work lke 3ds max or maya. It works differently. I think it's really flexible once you wrap your head around it.
Now put something in front of the door like a wrapped baby or something and tell a story with it. Or maybe add a quick wall with some torches. Anything to make it stand out. This has come a long way but i think you could push if farther since you're halfway there
Guys i have been working on this issue as well and have been using a cloth modifier on a garment mesh then after is wraps onto the object i use a multires modifier to take the count down then use a cobweb diffuse and a mask or a 32 bit tga with a alpha channel
You want art? Here is art! A couple of items for Queen of Pain. We're going to submit the wings for the monthly competition. Here's the concept from Arty: Still a bunch of tweaks to wrap up the sculpt, but we're getting there. I'll try to finish up the sculpt and lowpoly this week.
The best bet is to make the UV seams match the fabric's, then it will behave quite like normal cloth wrapped and sewed around an object. Otherwise, I think you'd have to mask off the sides to prevent the warping, and then rotate the mesh and apply it again. I stick with UVs though
chances are a ton of it might have been QA, with red dead wrapped up and probbaly pre-pro starting on a new project there would be no need to have a big open world QA team sitting idle. just a thought, but there definitely could be some other swinery involved.
@poopipe I actually wrote one too: http://polycount.com/discussion/174639/polyhertzs-3dsmax-script-quick-high-poly/p1 Been trying to wrap my head around the Max SDK to convert it to a modifier, but it's taking a while since I'm not that well versed in C++
Hi SpeCter, I did try linking to the object axis and unfortunately the space wrap didnt not follow. Because I'm using a cloth modifier on the mesh the object's axis remains in the same position as the mesh deforms, I wondered if there was a way for a space warp to follow a vert or a plane.
alright noscope.. i think i'm about ready to wrap this up now, this is what i have come up with. thanks you guys for helping me push this in the right direction its reallly helped (as you can see.) what you think now btw?
Ok so now i have brightened the gold highlights, gave the wraps some love, brigthened the darks. Brightened up the bronze so not symilar too wood. Im happy with the result. I wanted the weapon to be quite viberant and I hope you like the changes.
