Thanks for the tips, made some small adjustments mainly to the grip, I added some more variation but I don't want to overdo it. Still there are some things left to do. Before: http://i.imgur.com/hhWFrai.png After: http://i.imgur.com/IOvZqsD.png
Technically Steele was first.. Real Steel was adapted to be a movie from the 1963 episode of The Twilight Zone also based on Richard Matheson's short story called Steel. And I'll just leave this here.. I'll have to try and leave my brain at the door as the unbelievable physics issues are just outstanding. (spoilers here…
You know, I would think John Romero would have a WEALTH of stories on this topic. I have to imagine he's had a lot of time to reflect on his Doom and Ion Storm. He definitely seems to be a different man today than from what I've read from "Masters of Doom." I wonder if he's given interviews about that.
Since starting to learn maya, I really miss my wrapit! Wrapit lets you switch on 'auto-wrap' mode, which projects all your unlocked low verts onto the reference meshes ion real time. You can lock/unclock verts as you fix areas and tweak them to your liking. It works with all normal max tools (including the graphite tools…
If your budget allows, you should look into PCI SSDs. They basically plug straight into your mobo so you don't have the SATA bottleneck. Their speeds are insane too, some surpassing 1000mb/s read/write. EG http://www.scan.co.uk/products/120gb-ocz-revodrive-3-25nm-mlc-flash-x4-slot-pci-e-read-975mb-s-write-875mb-s-120k-iops
We have scripts that automatically put every uv shell at the same uv texel density. You can also do this manually in maya be applying a checker texture to all your objects and then manually scaling each shell until the size of the checkers match. (but this is a very time consuming way to do it if you have a large asset.…
The lignering particles look a bit weird. I'm guessing they are supposed to be snow but I'm not sure that it works all that well. If you're going for more of an ice crystal feel then you need to make them twinkle a bit and maybe have more crystaline shapes, sharper edges. For your ion laser thing, have you thought about…
I have done all of what I said so my feelings towards those are based on experience. I enjoy doing all of them not because Its for a game. I enjoy them because I find satisfaction in them. I wouldn't mind modelling for games, movies, commercials or whatever. Same with concept art. But anyways for the time being I am going…
I'll chime in and say dude don't give up. A lot of people around here know my situation and what I've been through but I'll share it with you because maybe it will help. In the past 12-15 months I have been in and out of work. First getting layed off at Raven and then leaving / getting layed off at Budcat in July (before…
Ok give me a sugestion on that , woudl it look better with the hilt one block carved of ivory or separate the grip from the head hilt and make the grip in iovory and the head and bottom fang in gold or the like?
