@polysteve good start! I understand the temptation to jump into the prompts before nailing down the composition but you are doing it backwards. First settle on a composition. Have a point of view. Have a focal point. Than define the lighting. And then work on the props. Prop artist is hardly a position anymore and it's all…
I had my computer go down for maintenance nearly every other month last year. Turns out a RAM stick was bad. And the GPU VRAM was also glitching. And a HD started to fail while another imploded. The mobo is also suspicious. Wonderful times. After RMAs and tweaking to stabilize it so it could limp ahead for a little longer…
Hi! I think you can solve a lot early by doing some sketches before jumping into 3d. Once you're in the process of modelling, you can take a screenshot at any time and manipulate it, or draw on top, to explore different options. Drawing lines in on references, might help you understand their proportions and placement of…
You can also use UVed and displaced geometry in Zbrush as a base then dynamesh and clean up afterward to avoid sculpting everything (although for a hero prop you'd probably end up sculpting over everything anyway...)
It's been one of those weeks. But I did manage to get a bit more progress made. I'm still procrastinating the torso, so I've been working on the legs. I'm sure having an actual arse and hips, when I finish them, will make the torso easier to judge. There's a lot of small inaccuracies I want to fix. I've been mainly using…
Thanks for the feedback!! Y'all are helping me a lot more than you realize :) @superdenny707 - I'll defiantly be working from his check list. I want to focus on making props. Right now I'm working freelance as a 3d modeler making props and textures for a mobile indie company, and have been looking for entry level art jobs.…
Yes this would be the "ideal" portfolio that anyone would love to have as it show everything. But NO ONE has that portfolio. That is an insane amount of work and you will find it hard to make even 1 great environment. I would rather see 1 fucking kick ass/balls to the wall/jaw dropping environment and like 2/3 unrelated…
Hopefully not too many images =\ . Tree is the most recent with the Flag being the oldest. Rhino was done somewhere before the tree for something quick and fun. I'll prob get around to texturing him sometime and maybe rig him up. Hes not quite done yet as I could prob clean up some poly's around the lower head (Mouth) area…
Whoa. That felt way too long. I'm thinking you should probably drop to cat model and environment by the other people cause they don't really have a point and they aren't that great looking. Also, put your contact info before the props to your peeps, cause really, the employers probably don't care. I guess the last thing is…
The Apple2 might be on the more cleaner side of things, perhaps if you want to still play with it make a "what would it be like if someone was a teen with this product", stickers scratches things like this as an alternative "texture" to the design. (good vintage game reference posts for ideas for this.) idk about the…
