If autosmooth doesn't work on the barrel, check if you have any over lapping vertices.

Because that's always been one of ZB's weird quirks. UVs are vertically flipped in relation to every other 3d software.

The other problem I have is some parts will separate themselves with no seams. I checked and there are no over lapping vertices or edges.

I would pull the two vertices you have for the blade together so it's 'sharp'. That looks like bad normals.

you should add a vertical gradient bake on the weapon (darker towards the handle, and gradually brighter towards the tip of the blade)
