old topic, but i have the same question, is there a feature in max 2017 that rese,bles Mayas move and sew? like for example if i want to get a grid like shell for a pipe that i flatten mapped before?

Yeah, Viewport Canvas had so much potential and it is very convenient to use. Hope Autodesk fixes it. Seems a lot of ppl are complaining about 3dsmax 2017. I am still using 2014 version lol.

use i.e. nightshade uv editor or maya 2017 update 3 (where they started to integrate nsuv). there you can apply an exact texel density to objects or read the density of one and apply it to others.

Colors isn't compatible with Maya or Max 2017. We have no timeframe for when it will be, unfortunately. You'll need to make color IDs using another tool or create masks from your UV shells.
Did you scale up the system settings for text, apps and other elements? Using anything other than 100% will screw the UI in any Max version, prior to 2017... http://i.imgur.com/8e9QbjJ.png
