Have you tried studying fine art foundations? All the material that underirdles those tutorials, etc? Still life painting. Design fundamentals, etc. -

The gameplay, camera angle,art style, etc would help. Was it top down, 3rd person, fps, action game, rpg, realistic, cartoony, etc. -

Lower values are better for BSP, while on the other hand Terrain, mesh etc, require traditional power of 2 number, like 32, 64, 128 etc... -
