Thanks MrNinjutsu, I made that small change along with some other ones and they help. I'm going to be wrapping up this model working on a quick rig to set up the final pose. Meanwhile I'm looking for some final crits on the texture, nitpicking is good!
Had enough of closing holes everywhere on the car so took a break and started with the chair. halfway there, needs some more details ;) Also this project is taking ridiculously long, gotta start wrapping up the high-poly in a few weeks else it will never be finished.
Great stuff. I'd definitely love to collab with you guys on something after I wrap up my current projects. I am not good at concepts at all, and probably not on par with a lot of the modelers here either... but a good concept always helps :D
what your seeing in image 2 is the base model subdivided once or twice and then major wrinkles and some other details are hand modelled in, so no it wasn't all retopoed manually. this high fidelity model is then wrapped to the base model and the base model is skinned to the rig.
Your better off hand modeling the stitching. It will look a billion times better in the long run. Examine how each part of the helmet interacts with one another. metal upon metal. leather stitching wrapped around metal to hold leather and metal together.
Are there any good articles people could recommend to begin to wrap my head around understanding physical based lighting, and the complexities of shaders in general. I am not to knowledgeable about the math and programming behind shaders, but would like to have a better understanding of them.
Great stuff folks! We're on the home stretch. @seework I really am digging these adventure sketches @lalad nice subtle handling on the ribs in that last one. A few more... I'll probably wrap up the last over Sunday/Monday on the flight(s)
Thought I might as well update this thread as I'm back working on this fanart project. Realised I never posted the final images of Kaneda when I wrapped it up in time for the deadline last year so here are the final high and low poly:
That is some giant freaking kelp lol. I like the second one even though the scale is off. The theme of the first one is really dark, and really odd. The net adds this depressed trapped theme, but the swimming position wouldn't happen with a net wrapped around.
WUT? Wow, don't know what to say. I thought there were at least 3 others that had it wrapped up. All entries were cool, hope they all get in game. Thanks for all the hard work Tvidotto. And thanks to the judges for their time. :D
