Whatever happened to the DRM that came with Splinter Cell Pandora Tommorow? I didn't even notice it, and apparently it went uncracked for over 150 days. Or, do what IW did and have it steam enabled. I have next to no internet connection, so this game is out for me. -

Its just a shame there is no hack to enable shader model 2.0 as it does in theory support it. Its not a bad machine really and it runs zbrush fine. I am presuming zbrush is opengl. steady i am after a work machine really, but don't want to spend a fortune -

Nice work so far, looks very beefy and grimy. Seems like it would fit in perfectly as a Gears of War prop. Maybe replace the small back wheels with support legs (like you can find on some construction vehicles) to enable the gun to remain stationary? -

My wife bought me a Dell laptop for Xmas, and it runs Max and Zbrush fairly well, but it's obviously not a patch on my desktop (Mac, booting in Windows 7 for Max). Once thing that did help was sticking a spare 4GB SD card into the SD slot and enabling Readyboost on it. -

Re: Modular floor. Fewer meshes or fewer materials?
Static batching should take care of your floor meshes with different uvs. At least that's what I used in the past - not sure what may have changed over the last 12 months. So make the floor tiles static, enable static batching in the player settings and enjoy reduced draw calls. -

@Eric Chadwick Sorry for the late reply: I do own UVLayout, can you elaborate on the automated workflow it enables? I have always used it for manual unwrapping of delicate hardsurface and organic objects (fancy manual pelts and all that), but I'm not aware of any way to generate full layouts there automatically. -

The best animators I have ever had the chance to work with all created their animations as stepped keys first in order to get the timing and flow right, and then only later enabled interpolation and proceeded to curve editing. That doesn't mean that this approach is the only way to do things, but it certainly has many… -

Whether automatic modeling tools, online rigging and animation solutions, outsourcing and model/texture databases, are useful or not is one question. Lonewolf: Or the model is just using Mental Ray shaders with the "round edges" capability enabled. Then you don't need turbosmooth or sub-d, it just naturally rounds off all the sharp edges, even when objects intersect. Well worth looking into if you want to save work for highpoly renders.
