Thanks man! I left some parts out here and there haha. So before I re-work my entire high poly I smoothed out the lower receiver. I bumped the chamfer amount from 0.5 to 1.4. How does it look now? It seems much better to me. OLD HIGH-POLY SMOOTHER VERSION

if you want to move a file around from within maya you can use the sysFile command. http://help.autodesk.com/cloudhelp/2015/CHS/Maya-Tech-Docs/Commands/sysFile.html so you would use the -rename flag with sysFile - eg: sysFile -rename "C:/batchTest/pew.obj" "C:/batchTest/POW.obj"; //This renames pew.obj to POW.obj

I'm using 2017. However, I always encountered weird bugs in 2015 as well. I didn't use 2016 all that much. I've been using student versions and it makes me wonder if Autodesk purposely makes their student versions buggy. Also, what 3D app outside of Autodesk realm does not crash and is light on resources?
