Wow... I am experiencing the same thing. No way to make soft shadows in Cryengine/ Lumberyard? Common it's 2017. Isn't this suppose to be a feature by now?
are you smoothing the uvs in render or something? Also is that viewport texture display for arnold shaders new to 2018, or can you do that in 2017 too?

Modified script a little bit to make it work with newer versions of Maya. Tested in 2017, 2018 versions. mel commands: interactive Bevel; interactive Extrude; interactive Merge;
@Mossbros Try to use this installation guide, it works for me on 2017 Update 1. Put file in your scripts folder, use command migNormalTools() and you're good to go.
