hah, your "old" work puts people to shame, mikebart, but it just ain't that old! some fun stuff in there Ikraan: way to rock the sprites man, those screenies rock slipstream: i'm pretty sure i saw the blue-dressed girlie here before.
I love the structure, composition and trees/clouds. The rock base brings the whole piece down for me. As well as the poor grass execution. I'd research some Spyro reignited grass and rocks... LINK 1 LINK 2 ROCKALPHAS
Good start :) Give your rocks more shape in terms of hard angles. One big question is .. How big is this golem in game compared to the player and screen space? Maybe you will have to push then the sizes of the rocks even further.
The problem is that rocks like that are rough and rigid where your armor is somewhat filigree (sp?) and deforms. Also, I don't think you're doing yourself any favors with that hue of rock since it doesn't fit into ES's color palette.
Im gonna use Medusa rock generator for my rocks witch i put inside the cave the forester or speedtree for my trees and grass and 3ds max for my models photoshop, substance painter and quixel suite for my texturing.
Looking great ! Maybe the rock tones could be a bit brighter ? I think they look slightly darker than the rock tones from the map, for instance on the barrier-torch-thing on the left of your image. Looking forward to see the den !
Hey Poly, WIP of a scene I will be working on in my spare time. I will keep adding as I develop it further, soon to come Starfish and muscles, which will be for the rock and the mushroom stalk. I will need to study up on my rock making as I feel this could look better. Thanks for checking it out and feedback is more than…
@Hayden Zammit & Mantragora - Yea for sure! I think I'll polish up these graphs and upload them instead of just posting screenshots. I also want to put them into Marmoset to get them all in one scene. There's a few more materials I want to tackle before that though. Also I recommend checking out the PBR substances that…
Nyx - Thanks man! I aim to please. Stoop_Kid - Thanks! Glad you like them. You're basically right on with your guess. I've used other methods in the past for sculpting tiling textures like these (dropping tools down to the canvas or arranging a lot of stones/bricks/etc in a subtool, keeping them separate via polygroups). I…
For your environment graphic I would just model it or manipulate photos to make it fit your current scene. If you really want to paint it get enough reference so you can paint it in a style that will get you noticed. I imagine photorealism is what you should show. The changes I made to the main page was based on color…
