Hey Joopson. if your shield is for game purposes, i would suggest allocating more texture space to the front of the shield unless you were thinking for a first person setup. either way whichever side of the shield you will be seeing more often you could scale up in the texture sheet for better resolution. also you could… -

Great piece dude! I love the concept/functionality of this one. The only real crit I have is that in the render on the right the handle has the illusion that its baked into the normal map. I think its because of the tappered shape of the handle end caps and the fact that it never quite breaks the silhouette of the shield… -

Then people start to do shields for heros that have shield (Dragon Knight, Luna and etc) then the judges or the community chosses let's say the best 5 shields (maybe one per hero) then the winners will submit… -

Yeah I'd agree that the slash in the shield looks odd. It's way too big and the low resolution texture really shows because of it. If you do one slash, you should add a few small scuffs and damage elsewhere on the shield. Keep it consistent. I'd also suggest painting at about 512 or 1024 (for these particular props), you… -

Are we allowed to model shields? A: Yes, however they will be classified as secondary weapons for this contest (meaning you cannot JUST model a shield. It must be part of a set that includes a shield). Shield reference models have now been added to the documentation.
