that could also be lack of RAM. got that a lot with maya/mentalray. I'd render a shot and all but 2 or 3 frames had random missing textures. Turned out the nightly backup jobs were using a shit ton of ram and causing the render to glitch :/
Anyone know why my Render To Texture might be coming out really dark? I have tried with and without a skylight. I just don't know what happened. It was fine before. Are people using Scanline or Mentalray when they render out the maps?
Updated to version 1.1 Changelog: Added support for Standard(Scanline) and MentalRay(Arch&Design) materials. The grayScalled controls not works with those materials. Added new video in the first post.
Hello, I am using mentalray to render. when i render unsmoothed, my render works but when i apply an approximation editor to my geometry, it dissapears? why is this and how can i fix it? i changed the material to a basic lambert and it still does not show up?
One more, for the moment. Following my low poly trend ( I blame the VG remix, reeally), I thought I'd give Sylvanas a try. She's still a WIP. Renders in mentalray or screencaps. To try to have a 'full' render, here's her throne room!
If you don't want to mess with mentalray and finalgather stuff you can always hand-place some colored lights and bake out lighting pass separately, which can be then screened on top of original diffuse. Or bake out complete map with handplaced lights + skylight
Hey, interesting trick. Another quickie one, similar quality, is to use the "Round Corners" option in the mentalray Arch & Design material. Doesn't work on all hard edges, but it's super quick.
Pior: - yep, it is the standard MentalRay fast skin shader in 3dsmax - never used it before, but it is very straight forward to use - just wanted to test it on this model Jackablade: - Nope, only 1.55b
