If you look at the localmaps that came with doom3, they pack a silly amount of data into the texturespace- this model is 422 tris, with a 512x256 texture (it's squished into 0-1 in the uv view here)
Thanks man! :) I've changed the design of the pommel so that it is more angular (complete redesign) and I've shortened the grip. The new polyount of the weapon is 224 polys and 402 tris.

Almost forgot, the current workaround for 4.2 is to mask via Cabity or AO, and then "Fill" in as color and bake out as color. Doesn't give look 100% the correct way, but it should work.

Still learning this engine... I just downloaded 4.4 and I noticed that my project files from 4.2 are grayed out. Can I not open old project files in a new build?
