Farm tractors typically use that rather blocky V tread profile, anyway not say'in your design choice is set in stone by any means but nonetheless quite noticeable you'd reversed their direction, especially for a vehicle artist. -

Niche example: old-ish game moves to new engine or you are making enhanced edition. Doesn't happen that often, but when it does, you are sitting there with hundreds of diffuse textures that need normal maps now. Possibly also roughness, metallic etc. Recreating them properly in designer would take too much time/money.… -

Errr, that's complicated. Firstly if you get banding from going from sRGB to Linear, the banding occurs in the bright part of the histogram which our eyes aren't very good at seeing.
