Aside from what Bardler said, there's really no way in Maya to do a shapemerge in Maya. You could always do a split mesh with projected curves and then bridge those border edges... if you separate the polygons surrounding the area of the curves, you'd minimize the deleted face problem..
If Pixologic start charging for upgrades I don't think it will cost more than it's nearest competitor Mudbox (about $500 perpetual, $10/month rental). I think they'll still offer a free version and maybe have a bundle (two-way Modo bridge?) to sell.
Yep, thanks for feedback i've missed this about file naming and variant tags my fault, sorry for confuse. So i just made a different quick loader ))))) based on folder hierarchy and will keep working on Blender/Max/Maya bridge for toolbag. There is no info in API for quickloader?
As you see, the wooden bridge seem to have some lighting error when camera is moved at certain distance.. I dont have any LODs, so, what might be the problem or its solutions. Any idea ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XjpeXMsCVQ&feature=youtu.be

Aha! Love how you bridge the seems with the simple highlights, great stuff I love the style. Thank you for the texture breakdown too! If you were to add more pixilated elements as mentioned above like fog and foliage it would sell your idea better.
looks nice! colors come cool, you could get problem with texture tiling artefacts. but then again use the detail texture technique mentioned earlier in this thread. anyway this seems to be some kind of bridge or motorway above ground? in this case, how about the sidewalk or side walls?
*sniff* I smell the sweet fragrance of burning bridges (top few posts) Keep those vacancies open for another 2 years, please... Actually, by then we'll all be wearing VR helmets and sculpting in Zbrush 5.5 with glove-manipulators. Or something. *hurries his degree along*
Nice portfolio man! That WW2 scene, the bridge specifically, reminds me of Silent Hill Homecoming, prolly cause I was just playing it. The site is very clean and easy to navigate so hats off! I've seen some pretty bad ports, even my own.
EP3 was all about making the bridge back to the story that began back in 1977. I hated the whiny portrayal of pre- Vader Anakin until lately I came to realize that Mark Hamill played young Luke as a whiny slacker -- it's simply a genetic trait in Skywalker teens.
