I don't think that is entirely true anymore. Certainly early on they shied away from anything that stood out too much from the original design or color palette, but looking at a lot of the winners from the big challenge a few months ago, a strong design outweighs such things. -

Looks great! Only crit I have is the characters have a surprised expression as their default pose. The bottom of the upper eyelid is above the iris and the eyebrows are raised most of the time. A more relaxed expression would be more appropriate. Great work though, it's looking like a winner already. -

Thanks everyone! d1ver- That's a great point, I think I'm going to fix that in the orthos. I definitely don't want him to have moobs :p !! I did not disqualify, but it does hurt my chances. They haven't announced the winner yet, so we'll see in the next week or two probably. -
Re: Which is the best for extracting normals?
I would like to say, that the best possible normals in UDK come from max with Qualified Mode on and using FBX with Tangents and Binormals exported(for static objects). Thus making max the winner in my book for baking normals for udk. (unless maya has a similar qualified normals system of course) -

when i saw this thread when it started i was not impressed, but now, i am mad impressed, the model is ace but the sure winner is the material, beautiful, i completely love the new eyes, i think the human eyes make him look even more creepy, i'd leave them as is -

Yeah, I have the demo version of IPT, but didnt know how it compared to Headus in terms of purely layout\packing. Thanks for giving IPT a +1, Warren! Seems to be the winner :) Oh yeah, I forgot that was only pro features. Thanks for pointing it out, Mant, that seems to be the deciding factor for me :)
