Thanks for the critiques. I've been working on fixing some of the issues pointed out. I switched up the order of my effects, swapped out the explosion for a different one, changed the first AOE spell, and I added some more to the last effect. http://www.shimamotovfx.com/
Nice! I once bent a few things, but never actually installed any pots. I just made connections, and put bits of copper at strategic places. Advanced eh? Bending the Speak and Spell is pretty classic though. Anything that comes out is certified awesome.

Some people might think we used a shader for that, but in fact it was an old school trick we used on this to create the effect of a nice fluffy…
It's looking better, I think that's just about as good a result as you will get on that front panel while still mirroring it. That link works for me strange... well here it is in long form: http://stephenjameson.com/tutorials/lightmap-uvs-tutorial/…
Hey Aumes, i found something cool i think you might like. I believe that you could benefit from this tutorial on spell effects and possibly use some of the stuff he talks about in your artworks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4StID1cc8dQ

where is the failure? it looks like the face and head unwrapped as expected. try adding a cut down the middle of the highlighted UV shell and see how it unwraps. that should show us if the unfolder is working correctly, and if it is, then the problem would just be that you need to change how you are cutting the shell.

There is, though it is probably only easily noticeable if some dynamic light source (spell fx, character holding a torch, etc) is moving around near materials with high spec values. The fixed camera position means reflections are often difficult to notice since nothing in the scenes is moving.
