Firstly, Chris, great work man! This came together beautifully! The left half of image 3 blows my mind. Great color and variation - who would have thought rocks, foliage, and fog could come together for an experience that sensual? I only have one, very minor critique. It concerns the right third in image 2. I feel there…
You need to work on your lighting and color composition more than anything right now. In my opinion, you've taken many steps backwards on the lighting from your last update. Things are way too dark, uninteresting, and monochromatic on the lighting. Increase the distance of your lights, bump up your skylight intensity a…
Nice work man! What are you rendering these in? Some stuff I notice at first glance... I think the gloss on the gun is too simple because it doesn't seem to be interacting at all with all those scrapes and stuff you have on the wood. I think the lighting overall is weak on the second two models. With the yellow…
You have to think of the spec map differently than the diffuse. Right now, it looks like it's just an adjusted greyscale version of the color map. The spec map is used to determine the brightness of the specular highlight if there happens to be one. So you wouldn't want to have painted in highlights like on the barrel…
Thanks a lot guys for the comments. I normally use color specular maps. For this project I wanted to use greyscale specular since I'm learning that not all engines use color specular. I would have prefered color specular since I'm not a fan of white highlights (the miniature painter in me just has this thing against using…
New Issues! Figured I'd just post in here as I have some annoying issues that I don't know how to fix regarding lighting again. I'm using August's build due to the fact that my university is using august for this year. The first one is with my landscape and I know there is an issue with landscapes but I was hoping someone…

I've been meaning to start a sketchbook thread on here for ages. Social media and Discord channels are no replacement for forums. For personal work…
Looks good so far!As for the blade "wobblyness",imagine it will have to cut some times hard objects so it will deform mostly left-right not necesarlly perpendicular. At least not after the enforcement. Overall it looks good from close up but something seems off in the first image,I don't know if it's from the lighting or…
@osk thank you, you nailed it... That is what I'm trying to do. The spec map is way off right now. @mr_ace thanks for the feedback. I think this might be even lighter then what I had before:poly122: How dark should I paint base layer for the black areas (60-65% gray)? RE: all black This might sound stupid, but I like…
Been working on the post processing for that environment. Had some real trouble getting it to look right in the forest and vista at the same time. I might also change the light at some point. Atm its a directional and skylight and I would like to keep it simple as this environment is rather big, the light direction has to…
